Updated: May 15, 2013 Two NCIS actors who crafted one of the most complex and beloved dynamics in the show's run to date are reuniting for CBS, but not on their old stomping grounds with Gibbs and Co. Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo, who played Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David on NCIS, are attached to a new drama at CBS that will once again feature crime-fighting and investigations. That said, it definitely won't be NCIS Here's what we Weatherly and Cote de Pablo are slated to work as executive producers on a developing drama, called MIA. Neither actor is attached to star in the series, so fans hoping for more chemistry of the Tiva variety from these two sharing the screen again may be disappointed. That said, it's not altogether surprising that Weatherly at least probably won't have a large role in front of the camera if the show gets a series order. He's currently starring on CBS' Bull, which enters its third season in September with some significant ordered to series, MIA will follow a homicide detective in Miami who is new to the force. Her partner has a great deal of experience and prefers to solve cases by-the-book. Her former undercover work threatens to impact her new life as a detective, however, as she still has connections to her final undercover assignment. Those "entanglements" put her career in jeopardy. Variety reports that MIA comes from writer and executive producer Shepard Boucher, who is known for work on Riverdale and Angie is no stranger to crime TV shows, what with three hit shows in the NCIS franchise, among others. In fact, the network is premiering two new crime TV shows this fall with the Magnum reboot and Dick Wolf's FBI. On the one hand, it's possible that CBS' lineup would be overloaded with crime series if MIA was added. On the other hand, the crime shows have done very well for the network, and Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo could be major draws for viewers, even if they won't necessarily appear on the can always hope that they do appear in front of the camera, however, especially since their characters didn't exactly get a happily-ever-after together on NCIS. Cote de Pablo didn't mince words when she explained her decision to depart in Season 11, and her absence is part of what motivated Michael Weatherly to feel that the time was right for Tony to move on in Season 13. His final arc revealed that Ziva had given birth to their child, unbeknownst to him, but she had died without telling him. The course of true love never did run smooth for those two characters. It's nice to know that their actors apparently had a good enough experience with each other that they're willing to work together tuned to CinemaBlend for the latest in TV news, and swing by our fall TV premiere schedule for what you can watch while waiting for news of this prospective series. Resident of One Chicago, Bachelor Nation, and Cleveland. Has opinions about crossovers, Star Wars, and superheroes. Will not time travel.

"They are working on how Michael's character is going to be written out," he shared. "Gary [Glasberg] and the producers are working on that right now." Geller said there are "not currently" any plans for de Pablo to reprise Ziva David for Weatherly's departure. "[I will] definitely miss [Weatherly but] completely [understand his choice]," he added. "His decision was his. It was a creative one. He was in the role for 13 years and I completely understand that and wish him well." Weatherly announced his exit last week on Twitter, telling fans, "[Tony] DiNozzo is a wonderful, quixotic character & I couldn't have had more fun playing him." Michael Weatherly's announcement early this year about him leaving the hit drama "NCIS" after being a regular cast for over a decade has definitely shocked the fans of the show and in a recent interview, the actor who plays Special Agent Tony DiNozzo revealed the real reason why he is leaving and his former partner Cote de Pablo has something to do with it. In an interview with TV Insider, Michael Weatherly said that after Cote de Pablo left "NCIS," he somehow realized the need to contemplate about staying or leaving. Weatherly said, "Their [Tony DiNozzo and Cote de Pablo's Ziva] great dynamic, the bandinage and sparring and flirting between and how they would swing from siblings to near lovers and back to buddies, that was gone." "And then I got to the point where I felt I'd stayed at the party for too long," Weatherly added. "I would look around the room and other people were really in sync and having fun. The show was a huge success, but I just suddenly realized that I probably had other things that I should be doing. And then the wanderlust set in. I directed a documentary. I have a production company. And I wanted to spend time with my family." Weatherly also paid tribute to his role Tony DiNozzo saying that he learned a lot from the guy. He said that playing DiNozzo has made him do the "widest range of acting" he could imagine. Meanwhile, the finale episode of "NCIS" Season 13 entitled "Family First" will be airing on May 17 and according to showrunner Gary Glasberg, fans will be up for an "emotional roller coaster." "People should absolutely be planning on some really serious, heart-wrenching moments. There'll be tissues involved," Glasberg said. "I want people to understand that Tony DiNozzo will always be part of this family-but they should also prepare for an emotional roller coaster," he added.
